How Often Should I have My Filter Changed in My Furnace?

The size of the filter you currently use will help determine the frequency in which you change it. If you are using a 1-2 inch, you should exchange it every three months. Options that are 4-inch get changed every six months, and 5-inch filters get swapped out annually. Pacific Coast Home Services takes care of this task when we complete our scheduled furnace maintenance visits.

Why is My Kitchen Colder Than My Living Room?

One of the most prominent signs you need heating services for your furnace is when you notice uneven heating throughout the home. When two rooms are two different temperatures, there may be a leak in the duct system, or the pressure from your furnace may be lacking, causing it to work harder. This raises your energy bills and lessens its lifespan.

Is My Heater the Right Size for My Home?

When most homeowners in the San Jose and surrounding Bay Area buy their home, they don’t consider the size of their furnace. It’s understandable because of all the excitement of getting into your new home and making it your own. The trouble is if it is the incorrect size, you could be throwing money out of your new windows. Give Pacific Coast Home Services a call to send out our specialists to your home and run an assessment to ensure you have the correctly sized furnace running at its most efficient potential.

What is the Lifespan of My Furnace?

Most traditional heating units last anywhere from 15 to 20 years. This is if you are receiving regularly scheduled heating maintenance services. Most homeowners take advantage of this system and forget to have it looked at or don’t know what they are looking for when trying to understand why they aren’t getting warm air. Our professional team will assist in helping it perform at its highest potential for as long as possible.

Why is My Furnace Not Turning On?

Many homeowners realize that their furnace is not working when they go to turn it on for the first time of the winter season. If you find that your furnace is not igniting at a time when you need it most, give Pacific Coast Home Services a call today. We provide San Jose and surrounding areas with 24/7 emergency services, including emergency heater repair.

Why is My Heater Not Blowing Hot Air?

Your furnace is running, and everything seems normal, but then you notice that your heating unit is not blowing hot air. In fact, it feels almost cold! Why is this happening? Should you be alarmed? The simple answer is: We can’t be 100% sure without performing an inspection. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help with these types of issues and ensure that your home stays at a comfortable temperature.

Why Should I Schedule Heating Maintenance Services?

Scheduling regular heater maintenance services has so many benefits. You can save money on more extensive repairs by taking care of it sooner. It will put out heat easier, costing you less each month on your energy bill. Regular heating services help it last longer, meaning you won’t need to replace it as quickly. It’s a substantial investment, but one you need to stay comfortable in your home. You will also be able to relax knowing you can receive the desired temperature you want evenly and all throughout the house when you want. For these reasons and more, you should schedule these checkups with Pacific Coast Home Services.

Should I Replace or Repair My Furnace?

If you find yourself repairing your furnace more than twice a year, or if a major repair costs more than half the price of a brand-new model, then you should go ahead and replace it. Pacific Coast Home Services can help you find a new model to heat your home with better efficiencies to make it work for you and save you money. Also, if your unit reaches 10 years old, you should start to consider the replacement.

Why should I care about BTU, Tons and SEER Ratings?

These are all measurements used in the HVAC industry to help quantify cooling capacity. One ton of air conditioning can remove 12,000 BTUs (or British Thermal Units) of heat per hour. Larger homes will require an air conditioning system with more tonnage to properly cool the space.

SEER is the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating, and it has to do with efficiency. The higher the SEER rating, the more efficient your new air conditioner will be. This doesn’t mean that you necessarily need the AC unit with the highest SEER rating — there are lots of other variables to consider when choosing a new AC unit, and the SEER rating is just one of them.

If  terms likeSEER rating, BTUs and AC tonnage are keeping you up at night, it may be time to talk to an expert. The NATE Certified HVAC techs at Pacific Coast Home Services can help you find the perfect AC unit for your home and needs. Give us a call today.

What is a SEER Rating?

Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio, (or SEER), is a measurement of how much energy and money your new air conditioner will use over the course a the year. The higher the SEER rating, the more efficient and economical your cooling system will be.

SEER Rating Categories

  • Entry level efficiency: 13-16 SEER
  • Mid-efficiency: 16-18 SEER
  • High efficiency: 20+ SEER

If you have questions about SEER ratings, or which AC unit will be best for your home, give the expert HVAC techs at Pacific Coast Home Services a call.
